“Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they’re never weakness.” – Brene Brown

About Julie

Hi! My name is Julie Miller. Thank you for visiting the Blue Counseling website! I am so happy to introduce myself to you. I am a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a volunteer, a business owner, a counselor, a giver, a laugher, and a life long learner. I love people and I feel a deep calling in my life to help people find healing and happiness through counseling. I am especially passionate about helping adolescents, young adults, and new moms. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family. Whether we are grilling out, playing at the park, hiking in one of the state parks, or just hanging out in the yard, we are a family who loves to be outside and together. Other interesting and random things you never thought you needed to know about me: I am an excellent toga tie-er, my favorite way to indulge is a trip to the spa, and my favorite television series is/was Parks and Rec. I heart Leslie Knope.

The Practice

The heart of my practice is working with soon to be and hope to be moms, young women transitioning to adulthood, and women in ministry. Through counseling I help women understand their experiences and support them as they develop resources, strategies, and skills for coping so that they can experience renewal and healing and reconnect with family and friends.

I work with a variety of clients who range in age, issues, and identity so you may find you have been referred to me but don’t “fit” one of the groups listed here. No big deal! I can still help you and I’d be really happy to talk with you so we can figure out together if we would be a good fit. Give me a call!

As a therapist I believe that you have strength and you are resilient. I believe that a woman’s journey in life can be marked with painful experiences of heartbreak, loss, loneliness, and isolation that wound us deeply. And I believe that therapy can help women recover their sense of self and heal these wounds. There are many experts who want to tell you what to do and how to do it and therefore challenge your intuition, but I believe you are the expert when it comes to your choices, your future, your body, and your baby and it is important to honor your intuition.

My job as a therapist is to provide you with a nurturing and grace filled place where you can share your truth without fear of judgment. It is also my job to help you tap into your innate resiliency and strengths. I will encourage you, challenge you, and guide you as you rediscover your strength and begin to experience healing.

What to Expect at Blue Counseling

If you’ve never been to counseling before you may be wondering what a session is like. A counseling session is a conversation. As your counselor, I will ask you questions about how you are feeling and what is going on in your life. You will have an opportunity to speak openly and share honestly without fear of judgment. I will listen carefully to you and your struggle. Together we will set goals for your treatment. It is likely that you will decide that there is some work to be done outside of your sessions, (I call it homework but there are no math problems!) Your regular sessions will serve as an opportunity to check in and receive support, encouragement, and guidance as you work towards your goals.

If you have any questions or if you would like to schedule an appointment, you can reach me at 303-536-1906. I look forward to meeting you!
